Set Up and Launch a Group
Use this checklist to create a group, prepare it to accept payments, test the member experience, and share the public page.
1. Prepare manager accounts
Each person who needs management access must create an account(opens in a new window) and follow the email verification link. A personal email works, as does an organizational role address such as a treasurer mailbox when the group already has a secure handoff process for that account.
2. Create the group
Before submitting the new group, review its starting settings and the limits on changing them later:
- Member Type: Individual, Household, or Organization. This selection is permanent.
- Friendly URL: a short public identifier members can recognize and type. Contact Simpli Dues if it must be changed later.
- Dues Policy: rolling coverage or shared calendar/fiscal-year terms. Later policy changes are limited.
- Membership Fee: the standard or most common dues amount before optional Payment Tiers. Update it later through the Fee Schedule.
Create a group(opens in a new window) after confirming those choices.
3. Add managers
The group creator is the owner. After another manager has verified an account, the owner can add that exact email and grant Basic, Financial, or both permissions.
4. Configure dues and contributions
Set the Membership Fee when creating the group, then use the Fee Schedule for future changes. Add Payment Tiers when members need alternate Dues rates, and add Initiatives for optional fundraising choices.
5. Connect Stripe
A Financial manager starts the Stripe connection from the group's Stripe page in Simpli Dues. Follow the current Stripe prompts until Simpli Dues reports that charges are enabled.
6. Record dues already collected
Use Record Payment for dues collected prior to your switch to Simpli Dues so current members begin with accurate standing and renewal reminders. Bulk import and address prepopulation are not self-service features. If your group has a large existing member list to add, contact Simpli Dues before entering those records manually.
7. Test the payment flow before sharing
- Open Public Page and review the group name, description, dues choices, and Initiatives.
- Complete one real, low-risk Dues payment authorized by the group.
- Open Members and confirm that the member's standing is correct.
- Open Contributions and confirm that the payment is recorded correctly.
- Confirm that the payment appears in Stripe.
- Review the receipt email and its Member Edit Link.
8. Share the public page to begin collecting payments
Open the group and, under Public in the group sidebar, select Public Page. Link to that page from the group's website and member communications. When using the QR Code in print media or on signage, include the direct URL alongside it so members can choose either. Let members know that no account is required to pay dues.
